I emailed one of my former ID professors (Rob Englert) the other day just to see how he was doing and how his company was doing. Turns out they are doing really well and have a ton of stuff to show! Rob’s company, which was founded in 2005, is called Ram Industrial Design inc. You can read more about their company here, http://www.ramidinc.com/, but pretty much they are SICK and have won all kinds of awards. I wanted to quote some stuff from his email since I think it is worth checking out!
Some quotes from the email: “The big news of the day is that the blog www.uncrate.com will be featuring our first product from my other venture Adirondack Firestone. The product is entirely made in the USA which is also pretty difficult to pull off anymore as there are fewer manufacturers here in the states. You can learn more at www.ADKfirestone.com“ So make sure to check out ^^ that
“Ram is also now the creative partner for an up and coming clothing line called HoldTight. Check out our spring 2010 collection at www.holdtightclothing.com“ <— this is so cool because my 3 friends from Syracuse are the guys who are modeling the clothing. Check out Tim Patch, Erik Krieder , and Jeff Gerlash!! OW OW!
“ram recently won two honorable mentions in this years World Kitchen International Design competition and we were also the only ID firm to receive any recognition. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=167137&id=175297322076&ref=mf” AND they won last year
“I don’t know if you have heard anything about our recent project called D-Build, but we will be one of the featured articles in the next Innovation Magazine. We are building an online marketplace for reclaimed materials and products made from reclaimed materials. We have already been highlighted by FastCompany and Wired Magazine Online and been featured on Core77. It has been intense. This is the ultimate interaction/product design mash up and incorporates the power of structured data, state of the art scanning technologies and the future of the web. We will soon be calling out to designers to help populate the products marketplace. We are tagging reclaimed building materials (mainly lumber) with a rich interactive history in an effort to create a new industry around the tens of thousands of vacant houses (and commercial buildings) that end up in landfills every year. It is a powerful story from an environmental, economic and social perspective. We think it has potential to have a serious impact. www.d-build.org”
So everyone should definitely check out all of Rob’s accomplishments above!!!
